Overview

Make the next step easier to find.

A good digital project often begins with a practical problem: an important program has no clear home, residents cannot find the right information, or staff have to update the same message in too many places. Harbor helps organize the content, define what each page needs to accomplish, and design a cohesive experience around the tools and team that will maintain it. That might mean improving part of an existing website, creating a focused campaign page, or shaping an organized resource hub for a larger initiative.

The work

Good digital work starts with the person on the other side of the screen.

Someone may arrive with a specific question, very little time and only a phone in hand. They might need to understand a public project, locate a service, register for an event or share information with a neighbor. The design matters, but the real test is whether the page helps them move forward. Harbor begins with the audience and the task, then shapes the words, structure and visual experience around what people actually need.

How it works

From scattered content to a useful digital experience.

We make the decisions that matter early: who the experience serves, what it needs to communicate, what people should be able to do and who will keep it current.

  1. 01

    Understand the users

Define audiences, tasks, project goals, content owners, accessibility needs and technical constraints.

  2. 02

    Map the experience

Organize content, outline page journeys and prioritize information and calls to action.

  3. 03

    Design and build

Create responsive page designs and digital content within the agreed platform and technical scope, with reviews along the way.

  4. 04

    Test and hand off

Review key user journeys across devices, address agreed issues and prepare editable content and guidance for the team.

Built for people. Planned for the team maintaining it.

A useful digital project should work beyond launch day. We consider readable content, responsive layouts, clear navigation, meaningful links, form usability and accessibility requirements during planning and design. Technical accessibility conformance, audits, remediation, hosting, integrations and ongoing maintenance require a defined scope and appropriate testing; no website should be called compliant on appearance alone. We also think about who will update the pages, where files live and what instructions will make the handoff easier.

Common questions

Can Harbor help with just one landing page?

Yes. A single campaign or program page can be a focused project. We start with the audience, message, desired action and existing website or platform.

Do you have to replace our current website?

Not necessarily. We can discuss improvements, new sections, campaign pages or content restructuring within an existing platform, depending on its permissions and technical limits.

Can our staff update the content afterward?

Editable content and a practical handoff can be part of the project. We'll identify the platform, permissions, templates and documentation needed during scoping.

Will the site be accessible and mobile-friendly?

We design with mobile usability and accessibility considerations in mind. Any formal conformance target, testing, remediation and documentation must be defined and verified as part of the project scope.
