Mooresville Parks & Recreation — Fall/Winter 2026–27 Activity Guide
A fresh editorial direction for a 45-page seasonal parks and recreation guide, developed through seven sample pages that bring programs, places, and community activities into a clearer, more inviting reading experience. An independent concept, not a completed guide.

Concept project created by Harbor Creative to demonstrate our approach and capabilities. This work was not commissioned by the organization represented.

View Full ProjectThe brief
A seasonal activity guide is often the first place residents discover a program, a park, or a reason to participate. For a municipal parks and recreation department, the design must make a substantial amount of changing information feel inviting and easy to navigate—not merely fit it onto the page. Harbor Creative's independent Fall/Winter 2026–27 concept explores the editorial direction for a complete 45-page, portrait-format activity guide for Mooresville Parks & Recreation. The first design iteration consists of seven representative pages, including the cover, welcome letter, contents, youth programs, park exploration, community celebrations, and a full-guide invitation. Together, these pages demonstrate a repeatable system for accessible schedules, clear hierarchy, approachable imagery, and seasonal storytelling. The complete 45-page publication has not been produced, and the concept was not commissioned or approved by the Town of Mooresville.
Objective
Explore a welcoming, accessible publication system that helps residents discover programs quickly and gives a municipal team a consistent foundation for organizing a full 45-page seasonal guide.
The approach
Harbor Creative began with the reader’s journey: how a parent finds youth programs, how a resident discovers a park, and how families recognize upcoming community events. The seven-page first iteration uses an intuitive contents structure, readable program information, inviting photography, and a consistent editorial rhythm to explore how the broader 45-page guide could come together.
